Bodrum and Fethiye anchor two different Türkiyes. One is the Aegean's St-Tropez — whitewashed, marina-polished, awake past midnight. The other is the Turquoise Coast at its most natural: a lagoon, pine mountains and paragliders spiralling down from 1,900 metres.
The short answer
Pick Bodrum if you want scene — beach clubs, Yalıkavak's superyacht marina, boutique bays and dinner reservations that matter.
Pick Fethiye if you want nature and value — Ölüdeniz's Blue Lagoon, the 12-island boat trip, and big all-inclusives that cost less than Bodrum's boutiques.
What the numbers say
Bodrum's peninsula lists 117 hotels in our directory, 28 of them five-star. The stars skew new and design-led: Mirada Exclusive holds a near-perfect 9.8 from 300 stays, Lujo is the talked-about art-and-luxury flagship, and La Blanche Island sells a private headland with sea on three sides. Family fun exists too — Vogue Supreme's Candyland water park runs 33 slides — but the peninsula's average verified score of 8.3 reflects its spread: dazzling at the top, ordinary in the middle, and priced like the yachts moored next door.
Fethiye and Ölüdeniz together list nearly 240 hotels, and the value story is the headline. The Liberty group's twin flagships — Liberty Signa (9.5, the quieter luxury sibling) and Liberty Fabay (9.3, seventeen pools) — deliver five-star ultra-all-inclusive at rates Bodrum simply doesn't offer, and easyJet filmed a whole video just comparing the two. Ölüdeniz's adults-only cluster (Ölüdeniz Blu, 9.8 from 569 stays) tops the area's scores, while in town the seafront Yacht Classic (9.6) is the boutique benchmark.
Beaches and water
Fethiye wins the postcard: the Blue Lagoon at Ölüdeniz is Türkiye's most photographed beach, and Butterfly Valley and the 12 islands are a boat ride away. Bodrum's answer is variety — dozens of small bays, most privatised by hotels and beach clubs, with the calm Aegean clarity the peninsula is loved for. Neither coast does long natural sand; both do platforms, coves and jetties.
Getting there and around
Bodrum's airport is 35–45 minutes from most of the peninsula. Fethiye uses Dalaman, 45–60 minutes out. On the ground, Bodrum rewards a scooter or taxis between villages; Fethiye's resorts are more self-contained — most guests settle into one all-inclusive or the Ölüdeniz strip.

Couples chasing scene, food and design: Bodrum, and budget properly for it. Families and value-hunters, or anyone whose holiday is nature-first: Fethiye delivers more per euro, with the lagoon thrown in.
